My first time: Die Glocke (April 24)

Germany prides itself in the classical music. Plus in Bremen is "die Glocke" a concert Hall which conductor Herbert von Karajan counts among the top three concert halls of Europe! This time as part of "My first time series" C3 subsidized tickets for 10 lucky students to experience the music of the philharmonic Orchestra from Bonn on 24th of April. We enjoyed the performances of Olga Scheps on piano an listened to:
Maurice Ravel: Le tombeau de Couperin,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Klavierkonzert Nr. 19 F-Dur KV 459,
Ludwig van Beethoven: Sinfonie Nr. 1 C-Dur op. 21, with Heribert Beissel as conductor.
Very classy event!

C3 Vernissage

On Friday 23rd March, College 3 hosted its annual Vernissage. We showcased over 30 superb entries under the topic 'Satisfaction'. Whilst visitors admired the photos, our panel of judges chose the top 3 entries. 1st Prize went to Juan Merlo, while 2nd Prize was taken by Oliver Barnstedt with Marvin Secker claiming 3rd Prize. All entries will be shown in the College 3 QSA for a year so if you get the chance, go and check them out!

My First Time: Bunker Valentin (April 17)

As the sun shined down on Bremen, several Jacobs students went into the shade of the massive structure that is the Valentine Bunker. With a length of nearly half a kilometer and a height of 97 meters, the structure currently being used as a storage facility, was originally planned to house an assembly line for German U-boats during World War II. The 3’s were awestruck by the massive holes caused by British and American bombs in the ceiling of the bunker. After a tour of the “fortified factory” as the structure was deemed by Mohammad Faisal, the 3’s were taken to “Lager Strasse” or the street on which the work camps were located. Now a grass covered park owned by the German military, it once was the housing of Soviet Prisoners of War, Civil Prisoners of War, and the German military. All in all, the 3’s learned a lot and had a great time, sharing in this piece of German history.

My First Time: Bremen Town Hall (April 10)

We agreed to meet in the servery on Saturday, 10. April. Surprisingly, everyone came at 14:30 sharp.
We arrived 30 minutes before the tour starts. The weather was great, so we decided to spend this time looking at the Weser River.
After approximately 1 hour, it was time to go back to the campus. The Town Hall was very impressive!

My First Time: Hamburg Zoo Visit (April 1)

At around 8:30 on April 1 (with everybody thinking it is a prank), College 3 students set out for a visit to the Tierpark Hagenbeck Zoo Hamburg. Getting to the zoo at around 11:30 am, we started our fascinatinating adventure into the world of animals. Seeing the way the different animals behave, react, interact with one another is on the one hand awesome, but what is more exciting to some is what fascinates other people e.g. keeping goats in the zoo. We didn't have the best of weather though, rainy and sunny intermittently, it was ok though. After spending roughly 3 hours in the zoo, some of us decided we have had enough, but some can't just get enough of it, and so, they stayed back for a couple of more hours. The general impression at the end is - this is awesome.
