Superbowl 2010 in C3!

Pancake day in C3!

Pancake day in C3 was a great success! 50+ pancakes were made by the students, with most finishing up in an eatable condition. Maximum toss height was approx. 1m, and the most messy pancake was one which split into three pieces mid-throw, splatting wetly onto the Aramak table... Yummy!
Götz showed an unusual rapport with the pancake process, as you can see in the attached video.

Love was in the air Wednesday evening as College 3 students gathered to decorate cards for their future valentines. With glitter and paper flying the C3 dragons crafted lovely cards and cootie catchers in all shapes in colors. Even some green C3 valentines appeared. After the card were carefully designed students entered in a drawing to win a dinner for two just in time for Valentines Day. The cards were hand delivered on February 14, 2010.

Besides being the only servery on campus to offer wireless internet access, our servery now has a brand new music system with 6 speakers that can be used by students to create a great atmosphere at mealtimes by simply plugging in their laptops and playing their favourite music for the rest of the College! Here is our College Office Team working hard to provide you with this exciting new facility.

New Year's Eve 2010

We hope that you had a nice transition into twentyten and that the coming year will fulfil your most optimistic expectations! Many of us celebrated New Year’s Eve in College 3 this year. The buffet featured plenty of tasty cold and warm dishes, but the guests probably got most out of dinner through Bleigießen (lead pouring), a German tradition used to predict the most significant events in one’s next year. Desert featuring ice cream bombs were consumed prior to the opening of the bar where each guest interested was instructed on how to mix and poor a long drink. Karaoke stepped up the rhythm of the night, featuring African, Nepalese, and Indian songs, but also classics like Dancing Queen, Lemon Tree, With a little help from my friends, Sweet Home Alabama, Billy Jean, Parklife, and many many more. The New Year was welcomed with champaign, fireworks and dancing.

Unfortunately, our photographer had temporarily misplaced his camera, so the later part of the evening is not well documented …

Christmas Eve 2009

Relive Jacobs Universities Christmas Eve Celebration hosted by College 3. A splendid Christmas Dinner featured Beef Wellington, Vegetarian Pie Wellington, Chicken Milanese as well as a spectacular Mouse o Chocolate for desert (see pictures). We sung a couple of songs together (Oh Tannenbaum must be part of a German Christmas Eve), we sat at the Christmas tree relaxed and played a few games. The evening being rounded off with the Christmas Movie “ELF”.

C3 Recognition Dinner

On Sunday, December 6th, the atmosphere in the College 3 servery was much different than on any other day. Dimmed lights, three long tables, lightened candles, lots of decoration, green champagne and delicious, extraordinary dishes.

Traditionally, for the past 3 years, College 3 has organized their Recognition Dinner, a celebration for the end of the semester. During the event, all students who have contributed in organizing events for social integration or have been given prizes for certain achievements are honorably mentioned by the College Masters.

This year, special thanks went to the cheerleading team for an extraordinary performance that has not been seen in the history of Olympix in this university. Moreover, appreciation was shown to Hozefa Indorewala and Hendrik Meerkamp for commitment in organizing the Fall Games and Lisa Ritschel and Eva Tzokova for the Unicef Children's Day celebration. Special thanks went to also to Ivana Mateska and Trevor Walker, responsible for the weekly International Music Dinners, Abhinandan Shrestha, hosting the International Movie Nights as well as Vasile Apostu in charge of screening cool movies. The celebration could not be closed without mentioning Lidet Tadesse, who has been honored with DAAD scholarship for foreign students studying at German universities for their excellent academic performance and significant social and intercultural commitment.

The event would not have been possible without the contribution from the College Masters (Götz Pfander and Tijana Janjic-Pfander) the College Office Manager (Robert Rennie) the Resident Associates (Autun Purser and Rhianon Williams, Hany Elgala and Riham Galal, Tonia Ruppenthal and Michel Owonibi) and the College 3 Office Team Members.
